The view from my computer desk in the early morning
On Monday I wasn’t up until 6AM after another night of poor sleep. I got my post up, after feeding the cat, and then made my lunch. I got a shower and my neighbor picked me up for my first exercise class of the year.
My knee was slightly better and I was able to do most of the exercises. Afterwards I sat and worked on this incredibly difficult jigsaw puzzle until lunch time. It was a picture of many incredibly ornate Christmas tree decorations. They had been working on it for over a week and hadn’t even gotten the frame together. One person had managed part of one of the decorations. They were going to put it away, but they asked for 1 more week on it…
This was the documentary they were going to show during lunch. I’d brought beef vegetable soup and yogurt with strawberry jam for dessert.
Sally Ride in 1983 just before her first trip
It was interesting to see such a dated documentary, as it was made in the late 1980’s. So much has changed since then.
Sally Ride in the late 1980’s
She eventually left NASA to resume her career in Physics. Here she was commenting on how her father didn’t know how to explain her physics career and was glad when she became an astronaut.
Once I was home, I lay down on the couch to read and woke up at 5PM, just in time to pull window shades and start supper.
I got supper done and sat down to watch a Christmas movie and forgot the time.
My #1 intern called to say she would be late and it was just after 7PM when I was supposed to be in the Zoom meeting. I raced in and got the laptop set up and tried to log in but it kept saying wrong password. I tried every combination, and around the 15th try, I was in.
Then we had a time trying to get into the meeting as the host never let us in. We later found out my #3 intern had been on the laptop and somehow his name came up. So I never got into the meeting.
My #1 intern headed home. She had started her first day of work and that was why she was late.
I prepped the house for the night and went to bed, but couldn’t get to sleep. Think the 4 hour afternoon nap had any effect??
On Tuesday my helper friend will be here mid morning. He’s bringing more bird seed. I need to clean up the kitchen and fold the laundry and put it away. I may start a load or two, I don’t know.
I’m hoping we can get some more done on the clean room. I have an appointment late afternoon, so I need to stay awake! It’s to be a nice day outside. I’m hoping with the next 3 days being warm, I can get out into the Small garden and get more crabgrass for Larry. He’s been out for a while now.
I guess we are in what will pass as January thaw…
