On Sunday morning I was up before 5AM and got the kitchen set up to process sugar pod peas. I planned to go out at 6AM as soon as it was light. But it started raining before that so I just turned off all the lights and went back to bed. It wasn’t supposed to stop raining until 9AM.
I woke up at 9AM and it had stopped raining. I got the house ready for the hot day coming and went out to pick peas.
I hadn’t planned to, but I ended up doing a small amount of weeding as I picked. The wind last week had blown many of the plants off the fence, so I had to carefully put them back on.
I ended up kneeling to pick and weed and got soaked almost to the hips. Once back inside I got a shower and sat in to cool office for a while.
I got half of one of the big bowls full.
Around noontime I got set up to top and tail the peas while I watched a movie.
I finished processing the peas about 2PM and got 6 pints. I got the kitchen mostly cleaned up and went into the cool office for the evening.
On Monday I HAVE to get the mowing done but it’s going to be really hot by 11AM. So I plan to get an early start, around 8AM. I also must get the winter clothes washed and dried so my helper friend and I can get out summer clothes and put away the winter ones on Tuesday when it’s really hot. (My brother’s room has an AC, where we will be working.) After that I will hide out in the cooler office for the rest of the day.
