Phacelia seedlings up from Sunday starting
On Tuesday morning I was up around 6AM and got the fires going and the pitiful cat fed. I got my post up, and then spent a couple hours on the phone and online sorting out various problems that had come up.
Next I got the bedroom linens ironed and back where they belonged and then set to cleaning the kitchen. My helper friend arrived and I sent him on errands.
My #1 intern had brought the corning beef up from the cellar fridge before she left for work. I had managed to get the 5 small plant lights upstairs so I could work on them.
I got as set up for my helper to make the corned beef dinner as I could.
Next I got organized and started making the hangers, 2 for each fixture. This took me a couple hours. I got that mess cleaned up and sat down for a while.
At least a decade ago, my husband and I had come across someone selling the 3” x 5” tobacco poles. We used them for fence posts. So we got a whole lot of them. I wanted to put them in the loft of the barn to protect them, but he didn’t want to put so much effort into it. So we stacked them outside.
Tom arrived sometime after 4:30PM and we went up to see what was left of them. There are a few still good for fence posts, but many had started to rot. This was ok because I was laying them on the ground anyways.
So he cut them to 9’ lengths with his chainsaw and we got 12 or more into the truck. Then I carried around 1 armful of the short pieces and that was too much. (We couldn’t drive the truck to the shed because of a high snowbank.)
So he’d bring around 2, and we’d clear a place for them and then repeat. There were 6 rows. I was pretty wiped out when we finished, but we were all ready for the wood guys on Wednesday morning.
I’d managed to add the vegetables to the dinner more or less on time through the afternoon. I had a nice supper, then went to set up to watch ‘Pride and Prejudice’ with my #1 intern.
She said she’d seen a series and so I looked it up in the library system. She picked the one she thought it was and I ordered it. It had come in and when I went to put the DVD in the player, I saw it said volume 2… Hmmmm, well that wasn’t going to work.
So I hunted through my DVDs and videos in the living room because I was sure I had one on DVD but couldn’t find anything at all. So, being a packrat, I went upstairs where I put the extra copies, and sure enough, I had it on video.
And it turns out it was the one she liked, so we sat down and watched the first one. I had gotten the stoves going around 6PM, so I just had to pull shades before going to bed at 8:30PM.
On Wednesday morning I don’t have exercise class because I have the dentist. Then I have PT just after noon. I REALLY need to do laundry and I’m sure the kitchen needs cleaned up. But we’ll see what kind of shape I’m in after doing the woodshed. Oh, and the wood guys are bringing wood and stacking it.
