On Tuesday morning, I got my post up and then got a load in the dishwasher. I sat down for a while then got up to see if the mesclun had come up. I had been 4 days since it was planted on Saturday.
I was astounded to find 13 things had come up in 4 days.
So I set about getting the ones that were up into trays without covers. Some were up quite a lot, others just emerging. But it was a very strong showing and I don’t ever remember having so many up so soon after a sowing.
I had to keep sitting down between jobs and my helper friend arrived at 10:30AM before I had finished. He did a few chores then watered the house plants.
The sauerkraut, most of it started November 7, 2025, had started to turn mushy so we dumped what was left. But it had lasted 5 months, when normally sauerkraut only last 6 weeks.
I finished the seedlings and sat down and he went off on errands.
I had to get the rest of the dishes in the dishwasher and part of that was cleaning up the mason jars used to hold last year’s foliar ingredients. That took about an hour to do and I was ready to sit down when I finished.
I didn’t get much else done on Tuesday. I didn’t even have to tend fires as the sun had come out.
I watched ‘Leave It to Beaver’ until bedtime. I got the fires going at 7PM and pulled the shades. We are to have cold nights until Friday.
On Wednesday it’s to rain most of the day and be in the 40’s. I need to fold the laundry and put it away and I should try to get doors and windows washed. I’ll have to keep the stoves going all day. I have an appointment mid afternoon. Maybe it would be a good day to just sit and read one of my favorite books: The Chestry Oak.
