Naturally I am a Cartoon lover.
Cartoon brings so much peace to me as a light- hearted child who s unaddressed anxiety.
Most other movie genres come with suspense, hidden sadness, or emotional tension that honestly drains my mental health. But cartoons? They relax me. They make me feel safe, and somehow, I always know things will be okay in the end.
Swapped was a bit chaotic at the beginning, but I hoped it will progress lightly but no it didn't.
Every minutes breed extra chaos.
The movie starts with Ollie.
Ollie belongs to a mammalian clan of burrowers known as Pookoos.
Ollie lives his life on the saying "Curiosity Kills the Cat".
He tries to explore everything and everywhere possible.
When he was really little he was nearly eaten by a boogie fish,
His parents scolded him in fear that his curiosity would lead to his demise, but he didn't listen.
His grandma had to tell him a scary tale so as to avoid the other region of the Valley with the moral lesson to not to trust other animals species only the Pookoos.
Asides his curiosity, Ollie had a kind heart, he believed in something the valley no longer had, their unity.
According his grandma's tale the valley was once together not until the firewolf attacked. Starvation followed, and every species stopped trusting one another.
It was more like survival of the fittest.
When Ollie was younger, he showed a Javan bird how to eat piplets. This single act brought uttermost doom to the Pookoos. The Javans ran them underground, his dad so disappointed in him,he barely looked him in the eyes afterwards.
Now, in present times the Pookoos weren't going to survive winter all because of Ollie's kindness.
As the word Swapped entails - when the Valley was in harmony, there lived old giant trees called the DZO.
These tree possessed mystical pods and could transform creatures into what they desired to become.
In the quest to defend the pookoos valley, Ollie comes in contact with a pod and accidentally transforms into a Javan bird.
After passing out and was rescued by three Javan sisters , ivy the bossy elder sister violet and lily and was nursed to health. At first Oolie fights continues to fight them before realizing he himself is a bird.
He despised his bird side so much. He tried to explain that he is a Pookoo and not a bird, this sounded like a fib to the bird.
The only person who believed and directed him to another pod where he could transform back to a pookoo was the boogle the fish.
Unfortunately, Ivy the bird being a bossy big sister barely listened and touched the pod before proper explanations and became a Pookoos.
This is where the story becomes very emotional and where we could draw our moral lessons from;
I know there is a constant back and forth of everybody knows what they are doing, but it may not always be so
The swap forced Ollie and Ivy bond,
Ivy never realized the doom she brought to the pookoos by her colony constantly visiting the piplets trees for food, all she wanted was for them to survive as the starved greatly and survived on roots that suppressed their hunger.
Ollie on the other hands only thought of the javans as selfish colonies, that made him hate his good side.
The tension between Ollie and Ivy tells us to reach out to some of our friends we went silent on , maybe just maybe they didn't realize the damage they caused.
Personally I judge the Javans alot, they never thought of other people asides themselves which honestly felt heartless to me.
Ivy never paused to wonder paused to wonder how the poor little rat as she fondly called him is surviving.
More reasons to reflect on how we threat others especially when the grow cold, and even when they don't treat people with kindness often.
They only kept taking.
Another moral lesson was his kindness.
Despite everything Ollie had been through he never gave up on being kind.
This is probably the hardest task for humanity, when the world becomes cruel to us, we stop being kind too; because we often wonder **who are we to be kind when half the world is ruthless **.
I have watched my mom being kind on several occasions despite what they person on the other ends did to her.
I personally think Kind people are the prove that God exist, the give out so much peace even when we don't deserve it.
Ollie was truly a beautiful character.
The main plot twist in this movie is Boogle.
I could have bet on my life that Boogle won't be who he turned out to become. He completely shattered my trust, his friends trust, honestly more than half the viewer's trust.
This movie is the best plot twist I have seen this year; If you hate cartoon and you have a kid you should watch it with them and have a good family time.
And the ending ? Absolutely magically; though someone was cutting onions and I got all teary.
I will give it a solid 9.8/10.
