Today marks the 3rd day this week that the whole island (Curacao) suffered a power outage... And it's obvious that the local utility company 'Aqualectra' is useless.
Here's some context:
The first one occured on Monday and started in the morning lasting until 5.30 pm (for me, cause some neighborhoods had to wait longer).
The second came on Thursday at 3pm afternoon and lasted until 8 pm (again for me).
And today I lost power around 7pm and I'm currently writing to you on my phone in a candle lit living room 😃.
And this is the 3rd time in little more than a year as we had the same kind of issues back in Nov 2019 and March of this year.
I pride myself on being able to make the best of things so when the power goes out I quickly look for something I can do.
This time I went on one of my night drives. To me it makes sense cause 1) I get to clear my head 2) the apartment is often a bit too hot to stay in so a fresh breeze does wonders and 3) you get to experience the city without power which in a lot of cases help you see stuff you haven't noticed.
I mean if you've followed me for a while you know I'm all about new experiences, so I actually enjoy getting to see something different.

Sounds like a jolly old time right! But here comes the kicker, there is currently a curfew in place. This means I have to get my butt inside by 9pm 🤦🏾♂️. So here I am, candle light reading and low battery life...
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not one for complaining but I do hate the fact that this company has a monopoly position and that there are no consequences if they mess up. Everytime you can't deliver on your CORE service, businesses on the island are losing money, appliances crap out because of the power surge. I'm not even gonna go into potential crime or social unrest (during a lockdown) cause luckily I haven't witnessed or heard anything. But the fact that this company can just make up some bs excuse and go on with collecting their monthly bills without any real consequences does bother me.
Okay... I just needed to let that out.
In other news and to end on a high note, Real Madrid beat Atlético Madrid 2-0 so I'm a happy camper!!! 😃😃😃
