I put learnning several languages as a goal that I have to reach in next few years. I decided to learn Korean first since I have a private Korean tutor and I need to take advantage of him to learn as much as possible. :)). Hopefully, I will be able to talk with basic conversations in last of this year.
The way of learning
I started learnning Korean last night and haven’t finished Hangul (Korean Alphabet) yet. I see quite a few videos on Youtube teaching Korean and all they say that it will just take 30 mins to get to know and learn Hangul.
I don’t think so.
As English, I know that a person can learn correct pronunciation only by learning the alphabet thoroughly. So I spend more time to learn how to pronounce every single word exactly, or maybe, as exact as possible. :))
I have some ways to memorize the way of pronouncing Hangul. I try to make imaginations with words and memorize. For example:
ㅁ :It looks like a Mouth, so pronounce “m”
ㄴ :It seems like a Nose, so pronounce “n”
ㅂ :It seems like a Basket, so pronounce “b”.
...
The imaginations make those easier to memorize and it’s also interesting enough to not feel boring while learning.
I realize somethings
I also realized some words which is really hard to pronounce with Vietnamese and Vietnamese people may get wrong somehow since their habits of speaking Vietnamese. Such as: ㄹ ( they’re gonna confused between “r” sound and “L” sound), ㄱ (confused between “g” and “k”).
And some words that most of Vietnamese people can’t distinguish clearly and cant pronounce differently, such as ㅈ and ㅊ and ㅉ; ㅂ and ㅍ and ㅃ;...
Won’t repeat mistakes of learning English
It took me 18 years to be able to speak english well. Since I had been learning English in the wrong way for almost 18 years in school. And the last 6 months ( just last year), I started over again and learned myself in the way that I think it’s right. And it really worked. I can speak English now, the thing that I couldn’t do throughout the past 18 years.
Now I also start learnning Korean myself (I just ask tutor (actually my friend) when I really need help), and hope that I can do the same thing that I will be able to speak Korean after 6 months of learning as English.
Now is just the first step and I’m full of confidence. I really want to show off some Korean sentences, but you know, I haven’t even finished Hangul yet. lol.
Lets learn some new language, and start changing your life!
