Traditional costume - Representation of culture
The traditional clothing around the world is diverse, from Ao dai of Vietnam, Kimono of Japan to Sari of India. Traditional clothes is an important part of a region’s history and identity. That makes each area has distinctive appearance.
Almost all cultures have their own unique costomes. When I travel to other countries, I love to see their traditional clothes. I think traditional clothes is one of ways to represent culture and identity which is belonged to the area where I’m visiting.
Peruvian traditional clothes - The Andean’s style
I was really impressed with Peruvian traditional clothes. Most of it is home-made custome, I guess. I cannot see a lot of women wearing this kind of colorful and bright clothes in urban area as Lima. But I see quite a few in Cusco, especially in moutainous region where is still full of Andean’s culture.
I took this photo when I was touring in some places located deeply in Andes Moutain nearby Cusco. A Peruvian lady with colorful traditional clothes was waiting for tourist infront of her stand to sell stuffs.
And as most of Peruvian women I saw, she also carried a kid on her back. The way of dressing with a lot of layers made her look like a doll. I can see the rich culture of Andean people through her colorful clothes.
