This is the kind of picture I can make an art picture of! For Art pictures I like photos of interesting looking patterns! Structures, lines, waves, etc. In objects or landscapes. I try to choose a picture with a shape that if turned into art no one would be able to recognize at first unless they really looked at it. This is a picture of scaffolding in the mall! No one knows it is in a shopping mall by the photo! Always keep a secret element of mystery to the art! That keeps it interesting so the viewer doesn't get 'bored'. Sometimes extreme closeups or out of focus pictures work well because you don't have a sense of orientation of where or what the photo actually is. Keeps the element of mystery and intrigue.
Then I find an app for whatever platform I'm on to make it easy to make interesting art fairly quickly. Most free ware only give you lo-fi images. That could be okay if you are looking for the grunge lo-fi look aesthetic. That's what I did here on steemit for the last year. Just using apps for an android phone!
Organic glitch photos and phenomenon are excellent on their own without using an app. That is something I haven't done too much of yet. Most of the effects you get on a photo glitch app can be done organically with the right equipment, which would make the glitch more authentic in ways.
I like to collage photos together to give a different effect or feel from the original photo. Try to find shapes and colours that fit well together when collaging on top of another picture. You can replace faces and input objects into pictures but I haven't done that much. If there are eyes I might put a bunch of other eyes in the picture though. Stuff like that.
Another way I come up with art ideas is just to think of a topic. Then look it up on an internet search engine and see what others have come up with! This doesn't always work. Search engines are very biased and limited! Sometimes you will look up a topic and find no relevant images. Still you start thinking of images relevant to the topic your thinking about and look them up. Then just make art out of it. Whatever you like - make art out of it!! Have it express what you feel when you think about a particular topic. If you like flowers make everything in the art look like a flower! If I were to add allot more to this scaffold photo I could add more pictures of construction and building. Layer them and collage them.
I will go through certain elements like collaging on certain apps later. I still haven't messed with many art programs really. I go for collaging art and just changing the colour or distorting the shape quickly. I can talk about different effects that I like to use later as well.
