Good morning Steemians! Today, I’m a little late posting the morning sunshine for ya’ll. Internet here sure does remind me how dependent I am on it to connect to the world. Remember post cards? I think they might be more reliable ;) Just kidding, look, internet access!
As I mentioned on my last post, it was my last day in Guraidhoo, the tiny little island south of the capital with not much going on except beautiful waters, reef sharks and sting rays popping up through my googles as my face was pressed tight against the water!
I’ll write more about this later but Maldives was one of the hardest trips I have ever tried to plan. It’s not hugely traveled due to the expensive nature of things and doing it on a budget, well… it was tricky.
I came across an article saying to skip ‘Maafushi’, the blogger claimed it was too touristy, too many people on the beach, too developed. Well, to each their own because to a vegan traveling in a country where fish and rice comprise of the main diet… I needed some options for food so I booked 3 days there in case I was starving by that point.
I’m super thankful I did. I have been having a rough time with food choices and so this bustling (compared to the tiny, relaxed island I was just on) hit the spot. I actually got some Indian food which is one of my absolute favorite cuisines and since you know I am all about food, I was blissed out of my mind!
Also, Maafushi is straight up gorgeous, close to the airport, easy and cheap to get to and I have zero regrets about visiting (except maybe that I didn’t stay longer!)
It all depends on what you’re looking for but if gorgeous waters, incredible sunrises and sunsets and island paradise all’round are your thing. This is the place for you!
I have to tell you, I was pretty impressed with my first sunrise here on Maafushi, just steps away from my guesthouse! Hope you liked it too ;)
Here are my previous sunrises, straight at you from the Indian Ocean:
I got AMAZING drone footage the last few days! I seriously CAN'T WAIT to share with you guys! 🌞
Sending you love from Maldives,
XO,
