Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series.
Genesis 10:13-19
Today we are reading about the peoples whose names end in im, and others who have ote, both of those are common plural endings (m) and (f) respectively. Then there are the ones that end with a ee sound. In Hebrew they end with a yud.
It seems that the English translation takes a lot of liberties in renaming these peoples and cities. The translators like to add a G at the beginning of Gaza and Gomorrah, a J at the beginning of Jebusites (y'busee) and add --ites at the end of words describing people of certain places.
Please have a look and repeat the words after I point and read. See you in the comments section.
