Hiv is not a killer disease especially when you use your medication properly and accurately. Despite frequent awareness on what people should do in order not to contact HIV or what to do when they are in contact with such issues we still find out that most people almost 50% of people are still ignorant or how they should go about this issues.
Recently there was a news circulating the social media that lagos State has the highest rate of people living with HIV. Rate of people living with HIV. Awareness has been made on the different processes that people can take when they suspect that they have been in contact with something that could infect them with HIV which could be blood or semen.
When this is discovered it is advised that you go to the nearest hospital to get yourself checked. There are different methods that people can check themselves. For some instances, you do not even need to go to the hospital and can use a self test kit that can show your status. Although this is not entirely advised because some test kits can detect other infections in your body and the result will still come out positive. This is why it is advisable that people go to hospital so that proper confirmation can be done.
In doing these, it allows you to know the next step to take through which includes the follow-up of anti retroviral therapy which would allow you to be healthy and suppress your viral load.
We have come to realize that many people live in denial because they do not want to accept the fact that they have been infected with HIV so instead of going to the hospital to get the necessary treatment they allow these virus to build up in their system up to a point where it might be too late to start treatment.
All I am just trying to say here is that if you have been careless in one way or the other it is not the end of the world you can still redeem yourself by getting tested and following the necessary procedures to either protect yourself and still healthy.
