Hello my fellow learners, it’s been a little while again and I hope we are still keeping up with our French journey! I wish you anll an happy Sunday as well! It’s the start of a new week and I hope we are all hapoy and excited to dive the new week.
Even if you feel like you’ve forgotten some things I have been teaching don’t worry learning a language is all about repetition and consistency and with time you will be there! Just go back and read the lessons you forgot.
Today’s word is APPRENDRE, and I want us to take our time to truly understand it not just cram it because it is a very important French word related to learning.
What does today’s word mean?
Apprendre means “to learn.” 📘 haha 😛 i must have got you there!
We learn every single day whether consciously or unconsciously and sometimes we do learn without even realizing it. We learn fom conversations, experiences, mistakes and even silence that is why learning is always happening.
It is a continuous process.
For example, you might watch someone do something and pick up a new idea without sitting down to study it formally.
As a teacher (and even as a writer) learning never really stops. In fact, the more you teach the more you realize how much there is still to learn and I personally believe that learning is one of the most powerful habits anyone can build.
It keeps you growing, improving and adapting to life which is the only way to survive and succeed.
There was a time I thought learning only happened in school, but life proved me wrong because every challenge I faced taught me something new.
Maybe I don’t learn how to make money like we love to hear but sometimes I learn patience, sometimes discipline and sometimes how to simply try again!
That’s the beauty of apprendre, over time it shapes who we become.
Pronunciation is like: ah-prahn-druh
Read these few lines below to give you an idea on how to quickly conjugate the word to be used in sentences properly.
If you memorize this, it will be helpful for your daily French vocabulary.
J’apprends — I learn
Tu apprends — You learn
Nous apprenons — We learn
These are examples:
J’apprends le français = I learn French
Nous apprenons ensemble = We learn together
Ensemble means “together.”
It’s a simple word but very powerful in everyday life because as long as you keep learning, you keep growing.
Thank you for reading
