Good day everyone! Here again with another great lesson for the day and hopefully we like it, also I hope we don’t forget and use it for our daily speech instead.
So quickly with that being said i am teaching us something very important and I think this should be classified as a noun instead which is a naming word.
So today’s French word is CHEZ.
Not CHEZ for pronunciation please 🙏 remember we don’t speak out the last word. If you do you change the meaning and it’s no longer French so pronounce it yourself, you are right!
Now let’s get a bit serious, so like I said this is not a verb and not even a typical word you can translate directly.
Chez means something like “at someone’s place” or “in someone’s home or environment”. It is more than just a word but a very handy expression that could upgrade and make our French language or spoken French ELITE.
If a French man hears you using this so well in your speech he will be so happy and he will be proud of you especially when he knows youre not native.
Pronunciation is very simple and it goes like shay. “Shay” “shey” pronounced very easily to mean home or house but Thats on the surface, professionally or natively it’s an expression with a quite longer and detailed meaning.
You will hear it a lot in French because it is very practical.
Observe this examples carefully to see what I mean:
Je suis chez moi — I am at home
Here chez means at home because of the possessive pronoun moi, which means ME en anglais. (En anglais simply means im English)
Je vais chez Marie — I am going to Marie’s place
Here chez means place or residence or apartment because it’s not a personal or direct possessive pronoun but for someone else so you are like a visitor or a guest.
French is really romantic and we need to take not of the rules so we have a good and fluent experience and what makes this word interesting in particular is that it reflects how French expresses location in a more personal way, It is not just about a place, it is about being in someone’s space or environment.
It somehow shows respect and acknowledgment and you see all of us #education lovers on #hive? We are in our own beautiful CHEZ. in French we would say CHEZ NOUS, our 🏡 . you all already know the meaning of nous.
Thanks for taking your precious time to read.
