We are publishing every day hundreds and hundreds of pictures on Steemit. Some, we copy, and many other come from our personal stock of photos, taken with love and care with our camera, smartphone, etc... But it's just too easy for anyone to right-click, copy the photo and re-use them without even a mention on their own websites, or for worse shady goals.
So here is a website which might come handy to anyone who does not want their photos to be stolen, or just curious enough to see where his or her photos have landed on the world wide web. It's called PIXSY and it's rather easy to use.
SET UP AN ACCOUNT
UPLOAD YOUR PHOTOS
You can connect your Instagram, Flickr, or other account directly with Pixsy, which will try to match the photo with anything found online.Β
In my case, I uploaded a few pictures from my blog http://svelanskroun.canalblog.com/ (which is the oldest blog I have, so it is highly possible that some of my pictures have been stolen and recycled on other webs).
WAIT FOR MATCHES
Now, Pixsy will do all the work for you, and scan the picture and try to match it with anything found online resembling your own photo. I guess that in the case of holiday photos, you might receive a fair amount of fake matches, but I think it's worth the wait and the try!
I'll let you know if Pixsy encounters any match in my case, and if you do, I encourage you to post the result here as well! Even though I hope it won't find too many matches :)
