Me encuentro en una fabulosa visita familiar por la ciudad de Naguanagua, estado Carabobo, Venezuela. Estoy centrado en los episodios de mi vida personal para plasmarlos en mis blogs, impregnados con todas las emociones que fortalecen mi libre, auténtica, independiente y autónoma vida espiritual. De esta manera, en mi característico perfil, me considero ponderadamente un ser individual, respetuoso de mis pensamientos y mis acciones. Por las trillas que tránsito, siempre me acerco a los buenos árboles para disfrutar de su buena sombra y de sus ricos frutos.
I am currently on a fabulous family visit to the city of Naguanagua, in the state of Carabobo, Venezuela. I am focussed on the episodes of my personal life in order to express them on my blogs, imbued with all the emotions that strengthen my free, authentic, independent, and autonomous spiritual life. In this manner, true to my characteristic profile, I consider myself a thoughtfully balanced individual, respectful of my own thoughts and actions. Along the tracks I tread, I always draw near to good trees to enjoy their fine shade and rich fruits.
Después de reposar la siesta de la tarde, me despierto sobrio y profundamente reflexivo. Invito a mi nieto Alejandro a organizar sus útiles de dibujo y a guardarlos en su mochila, ya que estamos invitados a un curso de dibujo artístico con mi amiga Maigualida Espinoza Cotte. Ella es una artista plástica venezolana, natural de la ciudad de Caracas, pero residenciada aquí en Naguanagua.
After a afternoon siesta, I awake sober and deeply reflective. I invite my grandson, Alejandro, to organise his drawing materials and pack them into his rucksack, as we have been invited to an artistic drawing class with my friend Maigualida Espinoza Cotte. She is a Venezuelan fine artist, originally from the city of Caracas, but now residing here in Naguanagua.
Nos despedimos de Irina, mi hija y madre de Alejandro, para bajar por el ascensor y caminar por la avenida y las calles hasta la morada de la artista. Su residencia está cerca del apartamento, aquí en la urbanización Las Quintas. Caminamos intercambiando ideas, consciente de que estaré poco tiempo en la ciudad. Al llegar a la casa de nuestra amiga, nos recibe su compañero de vida; pasamos adelante y nos saludamos. Maigualida recibe a Alejandro desde su silla de ruedas y ambos se ubican en el taller de trabajo. Ella le sugiere colocar el vaciado de una escultura sobre unas sillas para iniciar el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje de los conocimientos artísticos de la figura humana. Qué interesante es el arte y el proceso educativo de la cultura humana.
We say goodbye to my daughter Irina, Alejandro’s mother, to take the lift down and walk along the avenue and streets towards the artist’s home. Her residence is close to the flat, here in the Las Quintas urbanisation. We walk along exchanging ideas, mindful of the fact that I shall only be in the city for a short time. Upon arriving at our friend’s house, we are welcomed by her life partner; we step inside and greet each other. Maigualida welcomes Alejandro from her wheelchair, and they both settle into the studio. She suggests he place a plaster sculpture cast upon some chairs to begin the teaching and learning process of artistic knowledge regarding the human figure. How fascinating art and the educational process of human culture truly are.
A Alejandro le entregan un atril musical para que coloque su bloc de dibujo, y de inmediato comienzan las orientaciones sobre el universo espiritual del trazo. Con un lápiz de creyón en sus manos, empieza a plasmar sobre el papel lo que interpreta de aquello que visualiza de forma respetuosa. Allí permanece durante tres horas, entusiasmado con sus delicados y rápidos trazos. Observo que posee un talento natural; dibuja con un entusiasmo relajado y se mantiene concentrado en la tarea de diseñar una obra sencilla e ingeniosa.
Alejandro is a young man of fifteen. For him, drawing the human figure is not simply the act of learning to place lines upon paper; it is an exercise in introspection, discipline, and personal growth. Here he enjoys the freedom to create believable characters that can tell stories, move, and express emotions with strength and optimism on the pilgrimage that is just beginning in his life. Drawing is the catwalk between the childhood imagination and the rigour of adult thought, using art as the language to understand his own place within his youthful reality.
Alejandro es un joven de 15 años de edad. Para él, dibujar la figura humana no es sencillamente el acto de aprender a colocar líneas sobre el papel; es un ejercicio de introspección, disciplina y crecimiento personal. Aquí goza de la libertad de crear personajes creíbles que puedan contar historias, moverse y expresar emociones con fuerza y optimismo en el peregrinaje que apenas comienza en su vida. El dibujo es la pasarela entre el imaginario infantil y el rigor del pensamiento adulto, utilizando el arte como el lenguaje para entender su propio lugar en su realidad juvenil.

El resultado de la actividad es fabuloso. La alegría de Maigualida es extraordinaria ante un principiante que, ya desde sus primeros borradores, demuestra una notable fecundidad artística. El desafío que tiene el joven es exigente, por lo que será fundamental mantener la perseverancia para que desarrolle todo su potencial. Maestro y alumno se dan un abrazo; él recoge sus útiles, los guarda en la mochila y nos retiramos. Me despido también con un suave afecto para regresar temprano al apartamento.
The outcome of the activity is fabulous. Maigualida’s joy is extraordinary in the presence of a beginner who, from his very first sketches, demonstrates a remarkable artistic fertility. The challenge before the young man is demanding, which is why perseverance will be fundamental to ensuring he develops his full potential. Teacher and pupil share an embrace; he gathers his materials, packs them into his rucksack, and we take our leave. I also bid a gentle and affectionate farewell, so that we may return early to the flat.
