The most famous national flag was born (or in action)
On that day back in 1777 it was reported the American flag flown in battle for the first time - location: Cooch’s Bridge, Maryland. The legend says Patriot General William Maxwell did order the stars and strips banner as a detachment of his infantry and cavalry. On June 14, 1777 the Congress was discussing and deciding that the official flag of the United States should be thirteen alternate stripes red and white” as well as “the Union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new Constellation.”
This was the birth of the most famous national flag in the world - the Stars and Stripes. The flag is / was edited with every entrance of new states into the United States after independence by adding new stripes and stars.
