Geronimo and his Apache tribe give up
On September 4 the big Apache chief Geronimo surrenders to U.S. government troops after a 30 years battle to protect his tribe’s home territory. Geronimo was by that the last Indian warrior, the end of the Southwest Indian Wars was confirmed.
Geronimo was a big leader but after the 30 years war his tribe was exhausted and hopeless. He was exiled to Arizona which was a sad day for the freedom loving tribe and its chief. Until he died (1908) he remained to be a prisoner of war and never returned to his homeland anymore.
