At least 20 companies have submitted applications for license to operate cryptocurrency exchanges in Thailand.
Companies are feeling encouraged to obtain license following recent changes to cryptocurrency licensing system in the country that has been effective on July 16.
Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission secretary-general Rapee Sucharitakul has said the commission has received about two dozen applications from the companies willing to run domestic cryptocurrency exchanges.
If given license, these companies will start operation within one month, according to new regulatory licensing framework for ICOs.
Earlier, a royal decree was pushed to fast-track the regulation of the domestic crypto sector, making it mandatory for all cryptocurrency exchange operators and ICO issuers to register with the SEC before staring operations.
