Today was a great day, all things considered.
It was painful, but I feel so much better now. As I wrote some posts ago, I had been diagnosed with urolithiasis. The ultrasound showed some incomprehensible images (like they always do) but the doctors were almost certain there was at least one stone of about 1cm and other smaller ones (about 5, they said).
I had been working my online classes under considerable pressure. Taking pain killers before each class was a way to gurantee that at least for two hours I would be ok. Neven mind the sleepless nights.
Last night, I felt particularly restless. I was sure the stone had moved, most likely left the kidney, but it did not feel as it it was anywhere near the exit.
Today, I had a work meeting all morning and as soon as I finished my first bottle of water, I felt that something was about to come out. Three bottles of water later, the ugliest stone I had passed came out. Passing the biggest stone that appeared in the ultrasound was a relief. It did not hurt as much as I anticipated.
It was about 0,9 cm long and 0,5 cm wide.
After an hour another smaller stone came out.
Now, I have to continue my diet (no salt, citrics, or dairy) and the treatment (Rowatinex, Potassium citrate, and some herbs).
This ugly thing looks like it had been in my kidney for quite a while. It's frustrating to know that no matter what I do or stop doing, my kidneys will continue to create these things.
