Arrolla el cruel sentimiento
de “pude haber muerto allí”.
Si de dictadura hui,
comparto el remordimiento.
Quizás no sea el momento
de asignar culpas o quejas,
Pero las culpas son viejas
y recaen sobre los mismos.
Los que apoyan los esbirros
¡Ni muerte digna les dejas!
It smashes you the cruel feeling
of "I could have died there."
If from a dictatorship I fled,
I share the remorse.
Perhaps this is not the time
to assign blame or grievances,
But the blames are old
And fall on the same.
Those who support the henchmen
don't even let the migrants die with dignity!
II
Son muchos los inocentes
que han muerto en tierras lejanas.
Han sido muertes tempranas
por crueldades inclementes.
Sobran los seres dementes
que causan dolor y pena,
Como la causa es ajena,
rechazan sin esperar
que ellos puedan demostrar
si merecen tal condena.
There are many innocent people
who have died in distant lands.
They have suffered early deaths
under inclement cruelties.
There are many insane beings
that cause pain and sorrow,
The cause being alien to them,
they reject them without waiting
for the foreigner to prove
whether they deserve such sentence.

Me uno al luto que embarga
a tantos venezolanos.
Seamos o no hermanos,
llevamos la misma carga.
Esta travesía larga
debió haber ya terminado,
pero el mal tiene un aliado,
en cada ser temeroso
que se cree muy virtuoso
porque nunca le ha pasado.
I share the grief of
of so many Venezuelans.
Whether we are brothers or not,
we carry the same burden.
This long journey
should have ended by now,
but evil has an ally
in every fearful being
who thinks they are too virtuous
because this has not happened to them.
