Greetings, dear Hivers
Last night, my wife and I did something we had not done in...
It was too long ago. We went to a local liquor store for some beers and karaoke!
My wife learned that a friend of hers, Natalia, whose son she had taught at school, was going to be singing at a recently opened liquor store, which happens to be just a few blocks from where we live. She was trying to promote the place, attract some customers, and just have a good time with old friends. Even though we rarely go out at night here, we decided to give it a try. My wife's cousin and her partner also knew Natalia, so we agreed to meet at about 7 pm. We took with us.
This is Natalia behind the counter. It is a small joint with a couple of tables in front of the counter. You may be wondering why there are so many non-liquor-related products in this place. Well, it is the new thing here in Venezuela. Since food and snacks are the best selling products, most businesses, including shoe stores include food items in their display.
We drank about 4 beers each. It was a new beer, by the way, from the Regional factory. It's called Morena and it was really good. had only 1 1/2. Enough to ask for the mic when we were about to leave. That was not a good idea.
She ended up singing about 5 songs. We drank two more rounds, the owner invited us some free cheese, and they were pretty much offering her some singing nights to bring more people to the store.
It was fun. We may get used to this kind of Saturdays. Not the fanciest scenario, but one that allowed us to relax and forget about the daily routine.
