We went out for a few drinks on our last night in Istanbul last night. We've really enjoyed our mini-break here - what a fantastic city.
Efes seems to be the beer of choice here. We've had quite a few this week - nothing better than a nice cold beer after walking around the city seeing the sights.
Its quite a nice lager - really refreshing with just a hint of a taste of hops.
As it was our last day sight seeing, we really did get the steps in, and had just broken the 31,000 mark ! So really did need a stop for a beer.
I forgot to take a pic of the pub, but it was a 3 storey place on one of the main streets. We got a seat overlooking the street which was great - we just sat back watching Istanbul life go by as we enjoyed our beers !
We had good views up and down the street !
It was quite a busty street, and in Istanbul, that really means something. It was quite funny because these guys you can see below stood out in the middle of the street having a chat for like 30 minutes ! And the cars and trams were whizzing right by them, and they didnt even flinch !
And we tried a new bar snack that we've never had. These are actually dried sweet corn that have then been roasted - they were bloomin lovely ! Whoever wants to make a billion dollars - all you have to do is import these into the UK !!!
After the pub we found a nice restaurant, and had a few more beers of course - Efes again.
We had an Ottoman specialty meal, which gets cooked in a clay pot. Then the waiter takes out this tray with flames on it and cracks the pot open in front of you - very entertaining. It was like a beef and chicken stew - we really enjoyed it.
Well Istanbul has been a great place for a break, and has fantastic beer to go along with it ! It was nice to experience a night out in a completely different city !
