Have you been offended by someone and you are finding it hard to forgive? Has your brother let you down in ways you didn't expect? That friend whom you trust so much has broken your heart. People around you have said a lot of things that are not true about you and you feel betrayed by all of them?
Remember, Jesus taught us in our Lord's prayer forgive others their trespasses so our own sins can
be forgiven
Matthew 6:14-15 says,
If you forgive others the wrongs they have done to you, your father in heaven will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your father will not forgive the wrongs you have done.
For our sins to be forgiven we must forgive all thise who one way or the other have offended us, not minding how much or how bad they have hurt us. God's love foe mankind has covered all iniquities, just rhe way he swnt his son to die for us, so our sins can be forgiven and we should sin no more.
Keeping in mind every hurt or pain someone has inflicted on you, will weigh you down and make you lose focus on your main aim in life. Because you are always looking for a way to retaliate and not focusingon better things to do in life. Your prayer life begins to diminish, fellowship with God gets tiring and you see yourself losing faith. But Jesus has come to take our burdwn away, he said in Matthew 11:28-29
Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and i will give you rest. Take my yoke and put it on you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit and you will find rest.
That burden of unforgiveness in our heart, that tries to weigh us down. We should go to God in prayers and ask him to give us the strength to forgive, In 1 John 1:9 , but if we confess our sins to God, he will keep his promise and do what is right, he will forgive us our sins and purify us from all our wrong doings. God's promise to forgive us if we forgive others is everlasting, because no one is free from sin. In our daily activities,we meet different people, see different things. Some of Our actions, thought, words and what we see, one way or the other makes us sin against God, God always forgive us because we are mere mortals and we are prone to temptations. When we strive hard to stay away from sin, we show God our genuine service to his existence and shows we are keeping his commandments.
Psalms 55:22 says it all
leave your trouble with the lord, and he will defend you, he never lets honest people be defeated.
Conclusión
Remember when Jesus told a parable about a servant who owed his master some amount of money, he was arrested by his master and the ordered that he be put in prison with his family but he asked for forgiveness from his master and the master let his debt pass. On his way home he met a fellow servant who owed him some money too and he grabbed him by the neck and tld him to pay him back what he owed, the felow servant begged to be guven some time to gather thw monwy but he won't take any of it. He took his fellow servant and put him in person.
When his master heard about it, he put him and his family in prison too, until he could pay what he owed. He was forgiven of his debt but failed to forgive his fellow brother. In the same way, this applies to us. For give others and your own sins will be forgiven.
