The first step in building an empire starts at 6:30 in the morning. Yes, you read that right. It starts in the morning day after day when you're about to leave for work. The first step of achieving great heights is building your bed when you're about to leave your house in the morning. Success has got nothing to do with you making your bed but everything about the process. If the initial steps of your journey are taken in the right direction, the rest of the steps will lead to perfection.
Starting new somewhere is never easy. Be it in a new hospital, a corporate or on Hive. It requires a lot of prerequisites. A preplanned layout that you'll follow. I remember when I wanted to signup on Hive, I had already started exploring it. It was after 1.5 months of my working, I finally signed up. One might ask did I really get to know all about Hive in those 1.5 months? Nopeee. I didn't even manage to learn 1% of it to be very very honest. Having a successful blogging experience on a different blockchain made me think that it'd be easier for me to start on Hive but this wasn't the case. We have so much going on Hive at the same time, I got inundated by it.
I reminded myself that I'm not going to master Hive in one day, so how about I master the day and then keep on doing it consistently
The first step for reaching heights on Hive is the newbies initiative program for me. As soon as I read about it, I signed up on it and here I am. In this post I'll be setting a layout of my goals. My strategies and how do I plan to implement them. Lets begin.
What are the benefits of setting goals?
To achieve something, you need to dream of it and in order to have a dream you need to set some goals first. I realized the importance of setting goals first when I wanted to become the captain of my college football team. I knew it wasn't possible if only I kept dreaming about it. So I set a goal for myself. I visualized that goal and then implemented on it. Took small steps in order to achieve that goal and finally did it and became the captain.

So, do you see the benefits of setting a goal? It gives you a much needed additional boost and confidence. A reason to give your very best. But, trust me, a goal is no good until you start implementing on it. Furthermore, it helps you in prioritizing things and keeping a smart check on it. For instance you've set a goal to achieve something, naturally you'll be focusing on it more. You'll be putting in majority of your energy on it and in return you'll be able to taste glory.
You need to be a very ambitious person in order to reach heights. Do not let go of any oppurtunity, catch things voming down your way or as someone rightfully said: if life throws a lemon at you, squeeze it, make a lemonade out of it and enjoy the drink
With the same ambition, I'm here on Hive to make a difference and now with my goals set straight there's only one person who can hold me down. It's me.
My goals on Hive
My goal on hive is to accumulate 20,000 HP, have a reputation of 75, gain 1000 followers in a fortnight.
I'm sure, you're confused, reading this, scratching your head and thinking what is this guy upto? Is he drunk? If that's the case, I have achieved my goal. It was to make you laugh. Don't worry, the above-mentioned goal seems as absurd to me as it seems to you. I mean, even if we start talking like this, then what would be the difference between 's students and the rest of the users? What did he teach us? To be S.M.A.R.T with our goals, and this wasn't very S.M.A.R.T. How to be smart? Thanks to startstrings01, we have been already guided with that:
| S | Specific |
|---|---|
| M | Measurable |
| A | Achievable |
| R | Relevant |
| T | Time-Bound |
In order to achieve your goals, you need to set them realistically. There's no harm in dreaming big but when you're starting new, you need to keep your head in the sky but your feet on the ground. That's what I will be doing. If I were to give you a central idea of my goals on Hive, it would look something like this:
To have a lasting affect on my readers. To be able to to attract users from all around the world, build a network and be known by everyone.
This is a pretty generalized statement and if I were to carry on with this mindset, I'd achieve nothing. I need to breakdown my goals, be specific and work on them one by one. Let's move on to my S.M.A.R.T goals for the coming 7 weeks.
š« Engagement Goal
"There's no point in creating repetitive and meaningless content if no one reads it."
This is what I believe in, and this is what I will be working on with the topmost priority. But, you see, it's interconnected. Creating quality content and getting engagement on it. You can't expect any engagement if you're not giving your best.
š Specific Goal
To get at least 3 users attracted to my posts. |
|---|
šļø Plan of action
- Engage with 3 posts on a daily basis
- give ideas, recommendations and my thoughts on 3 posts daily.
- converse with atleast one user on Discord daily, via discord groups.
š Networking Goal
A person with education and degrees is a master of one. A person with a network is a master of all.
Building a network in this era, for me, is one of the most important things. Be it anywhere, you need the right people around you, having the right amount of energy.
š Specific Goal
Make 5 friends on Hive |
|---|
šļø Plan of action
- post in the Communites of my interest. For example I'm a huge travel enthusiast. For that I have already chosen Pinmapple to be my go to community. From there I've made a few friends. I will carry forward the same passion over the course of next 7 weeks.
- Take interest in the cultures of people from all over the world.
- understand the thoughts of people on their posts, so that I can relate to them.
- divide my days in order to get more chances of networking in a specific community:
| Monday | Hive Learners |
|---|---|
| Tuesday | Pinmapple |
| Wednesday | Travelfeed |
| Thursday | Hive Learners |
| Friday | Pinmapple |
| Saturday | Foodies Bee Hive |
| Sunday | Pinmapple |
šÆ Hive Power Goal
To be known on Hive, you need to have reputation, for reputation, you need to have strength, and for strength you need to have Hive Power.
Lets read my specific goal and my plan of action to see what I wish to achieve.
š Specific Goal
Have 500 HP by the end of the seven weeks |
|---|
šļø Plan of Action
I'll be breaking down my goal to present a better understanding. It's been a month since I joined Hive and I already have 58 Hive Power.
The average amount of Rewards that I am getting per week is 14.5 Hive or Hive Power.
| 1 Month | 58 Hive Power |
|---|---|
| 1 week | 58/4 = 14.5 |
If I multiply 14.5 with 7 (seven weeks of this initiative) it will get me 101.5 Hive Power
101.5 in the coming 7 weeks and my 58 Hive power already. If we add it up:
58 + 101.5 = 159.5
Even by doing this, I'll still be a 340.5 HP short. How do I plan to cover that? That's where HPUD comes in. I'll be powering up on the first of November and December to achieve that. But, there's a twist; in order to participate in HPUD the minimum requirement is to atleast have 100 HP
Today is 20th October, almost a week before HPUD. Remember I had an average of 14.5 Hive Power per week and I already have 58. Hive Power. If you add 14.5 into 58, you get 72.5 HP
Still 27.5 HP short of 100. For that, I'll be buying Hive from an exchange, amd powering it up on Hive. This will help me in participating in my first ever HPUD.
| Concised Plan of Action | Hive Power |
|---|---|
| Current Hive Power | 58 |
| Goal | 500 |
| Author Rewards (7 weeks) | 101.5 |
| Required Hive Power | 340.5 |
| Purchase Hive from Exchange | 350 |
| Total Hive Power | 510 |
This might be looking a bit mathematical to you all, I know, but the way I have planned it, I'm completely sure that this goal is achievable. I'll be investing more time on Hive and maybe increase my Author Rewards as well but nonetheless will be hitting the 500 HP goal.
Ps: I have always been serious about getting that 500 HP milestone
š„ Followers Goal
what you're doing, is that really making a difference? The real flex is how many people you positively impacted.
To have a list of 100 followers who interact with you, engage with your content and have a meaningful relationship with you is better than having 10,000 meaningless followers. I mean, you can buy millions of followers on Instagram as well, but what good are they?
Since my introductory post on Hive, I have managed to attract 18 followers, out of which I am sure atleast 15 are genuine. The plan is to be connected with my followers and gain more through further communication and interactive sessions, chats etc.
The best way of doing that is to find your area of interest and put your efforts there so that you enjoy along the way. The real feeling of satisfaction is when you earn a follower, not a forced one.
š Specific Goal
Get 35 followers by the end of 7 weeks |
|---|
šļø Plan of Action
- Engagement | comment on atleast 5 posts daily
---|---
Discord | Attend community hangouts on Hive Learners Discord channel
Discord | talk to users on Smile discord channel on two seperate days.
š Reputation Goal
Make yourself known, the world will follow.
I have talked about reputation at last as it will be directly proportional to my commitment with the above-mentioned gaols. If I'm consistent with my activities, I'll eventually see the results.*
š Specific Goal
Have a reputation of 60 by the end of 7 weeks. |
|---|
šļø Plan of Action
- Stay committed and consistent with my work on Hive. Don't deviate from my plans and the reputation will come naturally.
Hindrance Factors
- My Profession
Being a dental surgeon is an hectic job to be honest. It demands a lot of time, energy and consistency. No, this is not a ranting session but almost 75% of my day gets consumed being a dentist. A lot of commitments, Hospitals, clinics, patients, lectures, classes, research and other stuff. But this isn't something new to me. I have been living this life for the past 5 years now and have managed to do good so far. There will be days when work pressure would be mounting on my shoulders beyond capacity, ofcourse my progress would be a little slow in those difficult days but the way I am, I know how competitive and ambitious I am. These goals are very Achievable and God-willing I'll achieve them.
- My Side Business
Oh yes, in case you don't know, I have a successful Honey Business running as well. Thankfully, it doesn't take much of my time as I have managed to get things work for me at the back-end. It's usually my workers doing the job and I only have to supervise them. That's wjat my life is all about. No, it's not like that, I don't take out time for my family, but to make a living in this competitive world, you have to give up on some comforts and leisures.
This initiative has given me a new sense of responsibility to be honest. With being extra energetic and committed, I'm sure I'll be able to achieve my goals in the given time-frame.
A huge huge thanks to for keeping a check on me. I wasn't doing too good this past week as I had fever. She kept a constant check on me and was concerned about my health. This means a lot to me
