I'm sure you've heard from a lot of other people who managed to procure a career where they get paid to travel the world — but here's my story as someone who comes from Asia (the Philippines to be exact) and who also holds a limited 'third world' passport.
A Little About My Past...
I worked for almost 2 years at a bank that paid about less than $300 (hello, 'third world'!) — despite being regarded as one of the highly-valued fresh graduate employees that they had. Safe to say, I had little to no savings. I even became terribly uninspired especially when I realized that the 9-to-5 grind was just NOT for me, and that I had a grand dream that I didn't want to put off anymore.
...And so, I decided to quit my job — NOT to travel the world just yet, but rather, to develop a remote lifestyle that works for me.
How I Made a Travel Lifestyle Possible
After I quit my job, I did online work related to graphic design and marketing. In just a few months, I ended up building my own online Amazon business (of "private labeling", as I was inspired by one of the online businesses that I worked for) and developing my own travel blog (which eventually went viral after I was featured on BBC for my life story).
As such, when I was 21, I finally succeeded in securing financial freedom while also making my travel dreams a reality.
Today, it's my blog that helps me the most in securing trips (through all-expenses-paid trips from brands and organizations; in fact, one of the best blog partnerships I had was securing a trip to Antarctica!) whereas my online business continues to keep me secure (but I am actually planning on developing a new business that's more related to travel — we'll see!).
I've also recently started doing videos and posting them on my YouTube channel (iAmAileen.TV), and it's doing great. (For example, see a summary of my 2017 travels here: [click]. I also just reached 1 million views in one of the videos I made!)
