Mango-flavored sweet delight.
Sweet treats - Puto & Kutsinta
Add ice cream into the mix, perfect!
Yum! Mango Fiesta!
Some days ago, the husband arrived home from his father's around mid-afternoon and while he was taking his motorcycle gloves off, he kept teasing me to get off the bed soonest. His grin was so big so I was sure there is something good. Earlier that day, I was thinking to call him to pick up a cake at the bakery but decided not to. I was pretty sure he's not coming home empty-handed.
And guess what? I was not wrong.
For after he took off his gloves and jacket, he pulled me out of bed and into the kitchen and there he served some sweet delicacies which he picked up from our favorite fruit shop.
In a microwavable box are a mix of common Filipino snacks, steamed rice cakes locally known as Puto and Cuchinta (Kutsinta). They are both sweet and tasty although depending on who prepares them, there are some which are a bit salty. I like them better with just enough sweetness.
And one mini-pint of ice cream for each of us. He was saying that the vanilla flavor was out of stock so he got the mango ones. They are equally good anyway. He could have picked up drumstick but with the afternoon being so hot, he knows they will melt on the way before he arrives home.
I was gleeful of course, just in time for an afternoon snack. "Don't you want to take photos of them?" he suddenly remembered. So why not? He even helped tipping my ice cream pint as I took shots.
I could say that ice cream plus steamed rice cakes are a good pair, although I still prefer the good ole banana split.
