I read Jongo's index4index post and I decided to jump in today. I didn't have any index card available but glad to have found some stationary cut outs from invitation cards that I created many moons ago so I'll be using them to write one a day.
The index4index is not a contest or something, but an encouragement for us to adopt the good habit of self-improvement and perhaps inspire or motivate others too. I invite you to hop in!
Truth be told, I used to be a sucker when it comes to motivational and inspirational quotes. Back in the day, I would go through the web, copy and print out quotations and even wrote them on notebooks or doodle them on pages of books that I read. But life happens and I sort of lost it. I hope to pick up again and rekindle it through this challenge. And the first on my index card is this:
As you think, so shall you be. - Wayne Dyer
I love listening to audiobooks (I think this is the nth time I'd say this, lol!) It's my way of "reading" and one of those I've listened to was Wayne Dyer whom I've heard the above phrase and it stuck with me since then, even had it as my old phone's wallpaper. I'd say it was what made me start to learn to really consider and screen the things that I allow my mind to nibble on. It was challenging at first because when things go wrong, I would dwell on the negatives. Thankfully, that seldom happen these recent years because I'm seriously guarding the gates. When something not worthy is trying to sneak in, I kick it hard right away, lol!
Kidding aside, this quote goes with the saying that our minds are a magnet. And personally, I'd like to attract good and happy things so I constantly work on it because when I become too complacent, some can creep in so easily.
The second photo by the way was photographed somewhere out of town. I think it perfectly goes with Wayne Dyer's words. But it would probably be great to re-arrange them like this:
- Think good thoughts
- Do good deeds
- Speak good words
Why so?
We think first don't we? So if we think good thoughts, chances are, our actions and what we say would be good too. I observed that when I let my mind wander around happy thoughts, I'm mostly happy. When however I let the angst of life get through the gates, my day would be filled with worries. So it is best to know how to say NO to things the we don't want to manifest in our lives and we do that first by guarding our thoughts.
That's it from me today and if you would like to join, check how to do that HERE.
