A blissful weekend💛
The rain finally came yesterday, and even more generously today, with matching roars of thunder behind the mountains and flashes of lightning in the sky. That's the month of May we know.
"Aah, it's colder now, I love it!" The hubby was pleased, as he isn't fond of the hot weather. He has a weird practice of putting his carbonated drink (soda) in the freezer compartment. He says it isn't cold enough in the chiller. Yesterday, he forgot to take it out, and it froze; he couldn't pour and drink its contents, lol!
Anyway, we had a tech-free time for most of this weekend. It was intentional. It's sort of an offline retreat, or a mindful disconnection. Before, we had an unwritten rule where the dining and bedroom were device-free zones. They were off-limits to gadgets, but then we had forgotten about that, so we thought we would try a little experiment and spend a day or two mostly away from the digital screens.
How did that turn out?
On the first day, the husband couldn't help but scroll for some time (half an hour). He loves watching reels on FB (can spend over an hour or so), reading arguments or opinions about politics (like the current happenings in the country's senate), and then whine about them, lol! I rarely make any comments and sometimes tease him about feeding on drama, and getting upset, yet he still does it every single day😅 Alas, he refrained from doing that today.
How about me?
Apart from coming to Hive to use my voting mana and disconnecting soon after, I also haven't taken a single photo in these past two days, and that's a first time in a long while. I love snapping pics and recording videos, mostly of my little boy. And I'm proud to say I survived these two days without pointing and shooting. My computer also hasn't been switched on until I decided to write about this.😁
But yeah, with our little experiment, we realized that a digital detox is doable. And it is beneficial too, as we had real and meaningful conversations. We were a little more focused on things (planning and such). Most importantly, we had more rest!
