Have you earned your sleep?
Or is it time to snort another line of coke and plow through the night in order to finish what you’re working on. Again.
When I told her that I don’t feel like I deserved to sleep now she looked at me like I suggested to rob a bank. Said something too odd, too out of the ordinary. Something most people would never say. Which I guess I did. “Earned your sleep?”, she responded.
Yeah, I got big goals and I don’t think today played out how it needed to, so I don’t feel like going to sleep. There’s a better use of my time right now.
Now, I’m not a fan of sleep deprivation. I highly advise against it and as a guy who’s into fitness look to get as much sleep as I possibly can.
That’s why you have to ask yourself this question at the start of your day.
I only feel good going to sleep when I feel like I accomplished what I set out to do. When I know I did everything I could to make the most of the day.
In order to do so I ask myself at the beginning of the day: What are the top things I have to get done? Who do I need to ask for help, who do I want to connect with, what are my goals?
And then I reverse engineer what it takes to get there.
Everybody defines success different and I’m not here to give you a universal guide to live your life. Do you. I found this helps me stay on track and make sure I don’t waste more time than necessary.
Life’s too short for those kind of games.
