It's that time of the year again! When the New York Transit Museum rolls out The Vintage Train a series of antique subway cars for anyone who wants to go back in time for the small price of a subway ride! What a cool bargain, and so much fun! I have to admit, I'm totally addicted to this holiday event. I go every Sunday for the four weeks it runs and I enjoy every minute. I love the vintage train cars! But, as a street photographer, it is the people who go to this event that make it really unique. Many take the opportunity to dress up in antique clothing, which adds to the experience. And, you never know what your going to see, a flapper, a femme fatale, a schoolmarm, men in boaters, Fedoras, or bowler hats and sundry bowties, you name it! It's fun to ask them to pose and take their portraits with the train as a backdrop. On some weeks, there's even jazz and swing bands! Cool right? So, if you're planning to visit NYC in the next few weeks, or live in the area, grab a look at the New York Transit Museum's Vintage Train schedule (provided below) and come aboard this lighthearted, holiday pleasure!
If you can't make it to NYC, then come along with me for a short photographic journey back in time!
