We getting back to London to see some of the many choices of comfort food that you have. Many would use the term “junk” but I think that from time to time it is perfectly fine to have a little bit variety in your diet.
And this time from time is not every day. Just to clear things up.
But before we delve into the meat and potatoes ( pun indented ), let’s start off with some breakfast. In London, there are many cafes that have a fridge with cold sandwiches. You can also buy some fruits , smoothies and pastry.
They are freshly made and quality is good. Except for the ham sandwiches. There are awesome. English ham is the best thing in the world.
So, choose your coffee and your sandwich that will fuel your day.
And after you walked thought the streets of London you get hungry. What do you do? Visit a pub of course. And if you’re lucky and the weather is fine you can sit outside and enjoy the sun.
British are proud of their meats ( and rightfully so ) and I said to myself that I would try a burger. And there it is, in front of me. A sizeable burger , sauce and fries. Fries weren’t good. Pre-fried fries and some of them burnt. Sauce based on mayonnaise and mustard was ok.
Burger itself was very good. Well cooked, meaty, tender and full of flavor. The rest of the ingredients were also good. Except the ham that was awesome and saved it for the last bite.
And you continue wandering the streets of London until night comes down and you find yourself in Covent Garden, which is a beautiful place full stores and places that you can sit and have a drink or a meal.
Looked around and a place caught my attention. There was quite a line outside so based on social proof I entered it. I got a traditional English sausage in a hotdog form.
And it was fantastic. Not processed meat , but actually meaty meat. Sauce and pieces of fried bacon. Did I tell you how great English bacon is ? It is awesome. All in all I liked what I got even thought it was on the expensive side. But what can you … Everything in London is on the expensive side.
That was from me. I suggest your comfort meals go together with long walks so that you burn all those calories or have an excuse to eat more.
And until the next food adventure…
