Today, I had this conversation with a stranger, I was kinda disturbed with the way he talked to me. I was going through the questions he failed to answer in the questionaire, it was about “have you been diagnosed of mental health issue?” He answered, “I am close to having that because I seemed to be depressed lately.” And then he paused. As I was so busy, I did not bother to ask further because I was in a hurry to finish my things to do. I just replied, “can you please answer properly?” Then he just laughed and replied “no. I don't have any mental disorders or issue.”
He did mention that for the past week he did have a serious problem at work. So, I think he is going through a lot of things and he is kind of depressed.
People who are depressed usually have a difficulty in thinking, concentration, loses interest on something they normally do, and feel sad. Most of the time questions their purpose and value.
Am I a wall clock or a painting on the wall?
Recent posts I have read was about Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain. They are both popular and they both committed suicide as the online readings I have read. It made me ask the question, “Why would they take their own lives? I assume they have everything, their rich and popular.” The reason behind every suicide seems to be difficult to untangle but perhaps more people believed that their lives are like a painting rather than a wall clock. They seem to view their lives meaningless and unimportant.
We should value our lives because we are God’s masterpiece. We might see ourselves as a painting where people may or may not notice us however, we should always be optimistic and always remember that there is no greater love than the love of God have for us. It doesn’t matter if we have failed on the things we do or sometimes the people who mattered to us seems to ignore us. It does not matter if we struggle on finding our purpose. God surely made you for a purpose and that is the most important thing we should always remember.
If you are currently depressed and have thoughts of taking out your life, please do not be/feel alone, talk to someone, a friend or one of your family. More importantly, pray and talk to God. Remember God created us all wonderfully with a purpose.
