Boquete is one of the best parts of Panama. In the picture above, you can see Volcan Baru, the highest point in the country. If you are on the top and it's a clear day, you can see both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.
This last trip we visited a Coffee Plantation and hiked in the mountains to see some waterfalls.
The coffee plantation was called Cafes de La Luna, which means Coffee of the Moon. They named it that because they use the moon to help time the fertilization of the plantation.
They were knowledgeable and are very environmentally conscious. They spoke of the entire process of making coffee, then we went out to the coffee trees and learned more about the planting and harvesting of the coffee fruits.
We then did a coffee tasting, trying a medium and dark roast of their coffee. We also tried the world famous Geisha Coffee, which is currently the most expensive coffee in the world.
Geisha coffee tastes mostly like coffee, but has a unique floral taste. It is a wonderful coffee. You should try it when you get the chance.
Then we roasted some coffee beans, what a fun morning!
In the afternoon we went hiking in the mountains and saw not 1, but 3 beautiful waterfalls! The first hill getting into the thicker part of the mountains was quite the trek. After than, it wasn't too bad, but it got very muddy the further we went in.
Such a wonderful day!
If you haven't visited Boquete, Panama you really should when you get the opportunity! Check out the short video of this trip!
