La tumba de las luciérnagas
"Grave of the fireflies"
¡Hola, espero la estén pasando muy bien!
Hi, I hope you are having a great time!
These weeks I've been a little bit nowhere and everywhere at once (jaja). Even so, I'm back to one of my favourite activities, knitting and all that's behind it.
Last month there was an event called #novembergumi which consisted of knitting a given character (Setsuko) without a pattern. I loved the idea because I feel that it aligns with my way of working, so today we will see how this experience is.
Usually being a given character, the first thing I enlisted was the colours of specific threads, at this point there was a variation. As it was a film, the main character made slight costume changes depending on the scenes. I was quite happy about that because if I was missing a colour I could choose another outfit.
When I watched the film, I observed every detail of the main character's clothes, then I made a sketch indicating the details, shapes and colours of the character to give me an idea of how I could knit it. The funny thing was that when I saw the feet, I remembered an amigurumi I knitted before and I can say that this gave me a slight advantage in shaping the final result.
I forgot, for this type of jumper I did a different way of knitting, that is to say I knitted only one side without turning the fabric...that's why the stitches are neater. I used the same technique when I knitted the "book" amigurumi for halloweek.
Tell me if you've ever seen this film?
In my case, it's the second time I've seen it... And I didn't imagine myself knitting the main character, until now.
¡…Hasta la próxima!
See you next time!
The #novembergumi event is an initiative which invited amigurumists from all over the world to design, create their own pattern and knit a specific character.
