Buscando otro estilo de muñeco || Searching for doll styles

A veces me pregunto: ¿Cómo hacen las diseñadoras para crear muñecos tan hermosos?. Navegando por la Internet, me encuentro con muñecos desde básicos hasta complicados, monócromos hasta polícromos, pequeños hasta enormes; incluso con muñecos que llevan bastantes materiales adicionales (tećnica mixta).

Cada que veo un muñeco a crochet o 2 palitos, veo la cultura, es decir el entorno en que se encuentra o inspiró la diseñadora. Y como ya sabes, aquí no hace falta saber 10,000 idiomas, solo entender cómo está tejido (tipos de hilados, tipos de puntadas, articulaciones, etc).

Sometimes I wonder: How do designers manage to create such amazing dolls?. While browsing the Internet, I come across dolls ranging from basic to complex, monochrome to polychrome, small to giant; even dolls that incorporate a variety of additional materials (mixed technique).

Every time I see a crocheted or knitted doll, I see the culture, that is, the environment in which the designer finds herself or was inspired. And as you know, here you don't need to know 10,000 languages, just understand how it is woven (types of yarns, types of stitches, joints...).

Mientras miraba los muñequitos del mundo (jaja), se me ocurrió cambiar los patrones clásicos que estaba usando. Comenzando por el tamaño y la estructura en general. Como sé que mi estilo son los muñecos para niños entre 3 y 8 años (también para ancianos), quise adaptarme a esa etapa. Algo como plasmar un cuerpo robusto y con mucha energía.

Recuerdo de niña viajaba bastante y llevaba a todos lados mis muñecos (en realidad viajé con muñecos hasta los 12 años). Como eran pequeños entraban en mi mochila. Creo que allí aprehendí a cuidar mis cosas. Me ponía triste si perdía algún muñeco por el camino. Era distinto si le regalaba a algún amigüito uno de mis muñecos.

Looking at the little dolls of the world (jaja), it occurred to me to change the classic patterns I was using. Starting with size and general structure. Since I know that my style is dolls for children between the ages of 3 and 8 (and also for the elderly), I wanted to adapt to that stage. Something like capturing a robust body with lots of energy.

I remember as a girl I traveled quite a bit and took my dolls everywhere with me (in fact, I traveled with dolls until I was 12 years old). Being small, they fit in my backpack. I think that's where I learned to take care of my things. I felt sad if I lost a doll along the way. It was different if I gave one of my dolls to a friend.

En esta parte algunas proporciones del cuerpo no me cuadraban. Cada vez que tengo un diseño en mente, sé el tamaño final. Esta vez no estaba de acuerdo con el tamaño final... Ese detalle hace que el muñeco no se parezca al dibujo original, alejándome de lo que quería en un inicio. O ¿solo yo lo veo distinto?, jaja.

In this part, some proportions of the body were not in harmony. Every time I have a design in mind, I know the final size. This time I didn't agree with the final size... That detail makes the doll look different from the original drawing, taking me away from what I wanted in the beginning. Or is it just me who sees it differently?.

Sí, no es Speedy Gonzáles, es el Chalán (danzante macho de la Marinera). Al final no quise destejerlo, solo le cambiaré la altura de las cejas. Este diseño me ayudó a encontrar 2 diseños más. Uno mas pequeño (tamaño inicial) y otro grande, por eso decidí dejarlo así. Creo que los muñecos así como las personas son únicos.

Yes, it's not Speedy Gonzales, it's the Chalán (male dancer of the Marinera). In the end, I didn't want to unravel it, I'll just change the height of the eyebrows. This design helped me find two more designs. One smaller (initial size) and one larger, so I decided to leave it like that. I think dolls, like people, are unique.

Aquí algunos días están nublados y otros con un radiante sol. Y estoy aprovechando los días de sol para tomar fotos y avanzar con el patrón del Chalán. Hoy hizo sol y avancé un montón. Así que ya falta poco para que esté disponible este muñeco.

Estos estilos de muñecos que ví en las redes es en cuanto a las versiones de humanos. Una vez lo encuentre (estoy cerca), será más sencillo seguir creando personajes humanos. Luego, seguiré diseñando animalitos y ya tengo 2 en mente. Aunque esta vez serán tamaño peluche.

These styles of dolls that I saw on social media are human versions. Once I find it (I'm close), it will be easier to continue creating human characters. Then, I'll continue designing little animals, and I already have two in mind. Although this time they'll be stuffed animal size.
