¡Hola, espero te encuentres de maravilla!
Hi, I hope you are feeling great!
I found this topic interesting, especially if you are just learning about yarns, wools and other fibres. The yarns I currently use are 100% cotton and do not fade after the first wash, that's what the seller and the label said. The curious thing was that I discovered that one color did fade...
¡Hamuy!
Let's go!
Para comprobarlo, usé esta técnica sencilla. En un plato descartable coloqué algunos restos de hilo (la mayoría de tejedoras tenemos pedacitos de hilos acumulados) de los colores principales. Remojé cada uno en agua para saber si se destiñe.
I was reorganizing some things and I found this Cartuchera crocheted a few years ago and I decided to wash it. The funny thing was that the eyes (supposedly Timoteo, jaja) were dyed (stained) the color of the pocket, dark fuchsia. At that moment it came to my mind to stop designing, because I didn't know which thread faded and which didn't.
To test it, I used this simple technique. On a disposable plate I placed some yarn scraps (most of us crocheters have bits and pieces of yarn accumulated) of the main colors. I soaked each one in water to see if it faded.
When it was time for fuchsia, it did indeed fade immediately to a redcurrant pink color. Once I finished with these threads, I let them dry in diffused light.
I then put my yarn collection to the test. As you will see, the yarns I handle have a wide range of colors and shades. I also brought the latest yarns I acquired, because they are also 100% cotton.
It occurred to me to put all the yarns I have to the test, jaja. There you can see a feast of colors and textures between recycled, organic, acrylic, cotton/acrylic blends and bamboo.
...And here I am showing my yarns just like that, jaja. The result was that I only dyed the 100% cotton fuchsia yarn. Now my question is, is it the whole lot or all the fuchsia from that factory?
¡Y eso es todo!
¡Hasta la próxima!
See you next time!.
