Sixteen years ago today, a programmer named Laszlo Hanyecz posted something on the Bitcoin Talk forum that would go down in history:
"I'll pay 10,000 Bitcoins for a couple of pizzas."
Someone took him up on it. Two Papa John's pizzas were ordered. The transaction was confirmed. And for the very first time, Bitcoin moved in exchange for something tangible in the real world.
Those 10,000 BTC are worth hundreds of millions of dollars today. But Laszlo has always said he doesn't regret it, because that pizza proved Bitcoin worked.
At Innopay, we think that moment deserves to be celebrated.
Tonight, (thanks to PizzaDAO) we're hosting live Bitcoin Pizza Day events in two cities at the same time:
πΊοΈ Luxembourg β doors open at 19:00
πΊοΈ Bucharest β doors open at 19:00
Free pizza. Real people. Honest conversations about where crypto, payments, and fintech are heading. No hype, No noise.
Whether you've been in the space since the early days or you're just finding your footing, tonight is a good night to show up, eat some pizza, and remember why any of this matters.
