Greetings, how are you? I'm fine because I feel calm when I'm spending time with my plants. Last Sunday, I spent my vacation day with my plants. There were one or two things to do and I completed them and I tried to record every step while I was working, let's take a look at what I did. Here are the stages of how my plant went from before (left) to after (right);
My mother has an orchid, it was a very sweet flower but it started to wither and as it withered it got smaller and smaller because I had to cut it. Then I noticed that the roots were also drying out and the soil was deteriorating.
So I went to the florists in the bazaar and asked questions, showed them a photo of my plant and they suggested a few things.
- The soil is rotten, replace the soil.
- Remove the pot outside the transparent pot, and let the root see light.
Of course, I listened to his advice and bought orchid soil, which cost 25 TL or 1.32 USD. He also recommended a spray for plant diseases, which was the same price, so I bought both and went back home.

Then I started searching the internet and came across a Youtube channel that explained it very well, I decided to change the soil of my plant as I saw it there. Source
The necessary materials were as follows;
- Orchid soil
- For soil sterilization: vinegar and drinking water
- Bucket for washing the soil
- For plant sterilization: (Castile/Arabic soap) Soft soap and water (I also washed the pot with Soft soap)
- To reach the ends of the pot: Ear cotton swab
- Disease preventive spray
- To keep the body upright: rod
I started by sterilizing the soil. I put as much soil in a bucket as the volume of the orchid's pot, added enough water to wash it easily, and a little vinegar. The vinegar is the acid that does the actual cleaning and the water is for dilution. The soil should sit here for about half an hour.
In the meantime, I moved on to washing the plant, but before that, I have something to add. I was in for an unexpected surprise. When I opened the orchid soil package, I was mesmerized because this soil smelled wonderful. This soil with a strong pine scent was more wonderful than I expected. I don't know if you have smelled orchid soil before but it smelled really good, it smelled of NATURE🌸
After filling the bucket, I tied the remaining soil in the bag tightly with string. I put it in a bag and put it in a dry, dark place to use it later when needed or just to smell it😅. I stirred the bucket a bit and waited for the soil to clean up.
While I was waiting, I decided to wash the plant and first gently removed it from the old soil. You can see how dry it is. Maybe it's about to die😭 But I want to do my best not to lose it. Maybe the new soil and sprey will do it well.
It was like this when I dug it out of the ground, I took it straight to the bathroom and lathered it well in the sink, and washed it.
For this, I used (Castile/Arabic soap) Soft soap, which is a yellow liquid detergent-soap with a high viscosity. I used a very small amount, lathered it with water, and hoped it would clean.
I washed it with the pots to avoid waste. I scraped the bottom corners of this transparent one with an ear cotton swab and it's ready to use again.
When the plant was cleaned, I sprayed it and after the required time had passed for the soil, I started planting it again. This is the spray product I used, and as I mentioned above, the price was 25 TL (1.32 USD).
It got a little wet, I put a stick in the soil without damaging the plant and gently tied the plant to the stick. I added all the soil and put something at the bottom of the pot to absorb the water and put it in the sun.
I think the end result looks pretty good, don't you think? I'm hoping to save this little guy. I'd be delighted if it blooms at least one more time, but it seems a long time before it grows another branch. I would be grateful if those who have looked after orchids could share any other tips they know. I've heard that you need to give it nutrient water, but I've never done that before. Selamlar, nasılsınız? Ben iyiyim çünkü bitkilerimle vakit geçiriyorken kendimi dingin hissediyorum. Geçen pazar günü, tatil günümü bitkilerime ayırdım. Yapılacak bir, iki işlem vardı bunları tamamladım ve çalışırken de her aşamayı kaydetmeye çalıştım, gelin neler yaptığıma bir göz atalım. Bitkimin önceki halinden (sol), nasıl sonraki haline (sağ) geldiğinin aşamaları şöyleydi;
Annemin bir orkidesi var, çok tatlı bir çiçekti ama solmaya başladı ve soldukça kesmem gerektiği için küçüldü ve küçüldü. Daha sonra köklerinin de kuruduğunu ve toprağının kötüleştiğini fark ettim.
Bunun için çarşıdaki çiçekçilere uğradım ve sorular sordum, bitkimin fotoğrafını gösterdim ve bana bir kaç şey önerdiler.

Sonra internetten araştırmaya başladım ve çok iyi anlatan bir Youtube kanalına denk geldim, orada gördüğüm şekilde bitkimin toprağını değiştirmeye karar verdim. Source
Gerekli malzemeler şöyleydi;
- Orkide toprağı
- Toprak sterilizasyonu için: sirke ve içme suyu
- Toprağı yıkamak için kova
- Bitki sterilizasyonu için: Arapsabunu ve su (ben saksıyı da Arapsabunu ile yıkadım)
- Saksının uç noktalarına ulaşmak için: Kulak çubuğu
- Hastalık önleyici sprey
- Gövdeyi dik tutmak için: çubuk
İşe önce toprağı steril ederek başladım. Bir kovanın içine orkidenin saksısının hacmi kadar toprak koydum, rahatça yıkanacak kadar su ve biraz da sirke ekledim. Sirke asıl temizliği yapan asit ve su da seyreltmeyi saklıyor. Toprak yaklaşık yarım saat kadar burada beklemeliymiş.
Bu süre içerisinde bitkiyi yıkamaya geçtim ama ondan öncesinde eklemek istediğim şeyler var. Beni hiç beklemediğim bir sürpriz bekliyordu. Orkide toprağı paketini açmamla büyülenmem bir oldu, çünkü bu toprak harika kokuyordu. İçerisinde yoğun çam kokusu barındıran bu toprak beklediğimden çok harika bir şeydi. O yüzden sağdaki resmi çekmek ihtiyacı duydum. Daha önce orkide toprağı kokladınız mı bilmiyorum ama kokusu gerçekten güzel, DOĞA kokuyordu🌸
Kovayı doldurduktan sonra pakette kalan toprağı sıkıca iple bağladım. Poşete koyup, daha sonra lazım olduğunda kullanmak ya da sadece koklamak için😅 kuru, karanlık bir yere koydum. Toprağın temizlemesi için biraz karıştırıp, bekledim.
Beklerken bitkiyi yıkamaya karar verdim ve önce eski topraktan nazikçe çıkarttım. Ne kadar kuruduğunu görebilirsiniz. Belki de ölmek üzere😭 Ama kaybetmemek için elimden geleni yapmak istiyorum. Belki yeni toprak ve ilaç ona iyi gelir.
Topraktan çıkarttığımda böyleydi, doğruca banyoya götürdüm ve lavoboda güzelce köpürtüp yıkadım.
Bunun için Arapsabunu kullandım bu sarı renkte, akışkanlığı yoğun bir sıvı deterjan-sabun türü. Çok az bir miktar kullandım, suyla köpürttüm ve temizlenmesini umdum.
Saksılarıyla beraber yıkadım böylece israftan kaçındım. Bu şeffaf olanın alt köşelerindeki yerleri kulak çubuğu ile eşeleyerek sildim. Tekrar kullanmaya hazır hale geldi.
Bitki de temizlenince üzerine ilaç sıktım ve toprak için de gereken süre geçince tekrar ekmeye başladım. Kullandığım sprey ürün de buydu, fiyatı yukarıda bahsettiğim gibi 25 TL yani 1,32 USD idi.
Etraf biraz ıslandı, toprağın içine bitkiye zarar vermeden bir çubuk koydum ve bitkiyi narince çubuğa bağladım. Toprağın tamamını ekledim ve saksının altına bir akacak olan suları çekmesi için bir şey koyup, güneş alabileceği yere bıraktım.
Bence son hali oldukça iyi görünüyor ha, ne dersiniz? Bu ufaklığı kurtarmayı umuyorum. En azından bir kez daha çiçek açarsa çok memnun olurum ama bir dal uzatması için epey vakit var gibi. Orkide bakmış olanlar bildikleri başka bir ipucu paylaşırsa çok sevinirim. Besinli su vermek gerekiyor diye duydum ama hiç öyle bir şey yapmadım daha önce.
