The Shadow of a Palm in the Morning

This is my entry for the ShadowHunters SMASh contest number 427.
Some trips to the beach begin long before reaching the sea.
There are mornings when the road itself becomes part of the experience. The city is still relatively quiet, the air feels fresher than usual, and the sunlight begins to slowly take possession of the landscape.
This photograph was taken during one of those mornings.
On the way to the beach, I noticed this beautiful palm standing alone over the grass, illuminated by the strong light of the early sun. What immediately caught my attention was not only the shape of the plant itself, but the shadow it projected onto the ground.
The sun was still low enough to stretch its silhouette across the grass.
Its large fan-shaped leaves created a very defined shadow, full of pointed shapes and elegant lines. The contrast between the illuminated grass and the darker figure projected beside the palm gave the scene a very peaceful atmosphere.
There was also movement in the air.
The morning breeze gently moved the leaves, and with every small motion, the shadow changed slightly over the ground. It was as if the palm were quietly drawing over the grass using only sunlight and wind.
I stopped for a moment to observe it more carefully.
Sometimes during trips to the beach we focus only on reaching the sea as quickly as possible, forgetting that along the way there are also moments worth noticing. Small scenes created by light, vegetation and the calm rhythm of the morning.
That is something I appreciate more with time.
The beach eventually arrives with its brightness, its sound and its energy, but before that, the morning leaves behind these quieter details that often remain unnoticed.
That is why I decided to photograph this shadow.
Because in that brief stop along the way, the palm and the morning sun created a simple but beautiful composition made of grass, light… and shadow.

La sombra de una palma en la mañana
Hola querida comunidad de #ShadowHunters,
Esta es mi entrada para el concurso ShadowHunters SMASh número 427.
Algunos viajes a la playa comienzan mucho antes de llegar al mar.
Hay mañanas en las que el propio camino se convierte en parte de la experiencia. La ciudad todavía permanece relativamente tranquila, el aire se siente más fresco de lo habitual y la luz del sol comienza poco a poco a apoderarse del paisaje.
Esta fotografía fue tomada durante una de esas mañanas.
Camino a la playa observé esta hermosa palma elevándose sola sobre la hierba, iluminada por la intensa luz del sol temprano. Lo primero que llamó mi atención no fue únicamente la forma de la planta, sino la sombra que proyectaba sobre el suelo.
El sol todavía estaba lo suficientemente bajo como para alargar su silueta sobre la hierba.
Sus grandes hojas en forma de abanico creaban una sombra muy definida, llena de puntas y líneas elegantes. El contraste entre la hierba iluminada y la figura oscura proyectada junto a la palma daba a la escena una atmósfera muy tranquila.
También había movimiento en el aire.
La brisa de la mañana movía suavemente las hojas y, con cada pequeño movimiento, la sombra cambiaba ligeramente sobre el suelo. Era como si la palma estuviera dibujando silenciosamente sobre la hierba utilizando únicamente la luz del sol y el viento.
Me detuve un momento a observarla con más atención.
A veces, durante los viajes a la playa, nos concentramos únicamente en llegar al mar lo más rápido posible, olvidando que en el camino también existen momentos dignos de observar. Pequeñas escenas creadas por la luz, la vegetación y el ritmo tranquilo de la mañana.
Es algo que con el tiempo he aprendido a apreciar más.
La playa finalmente aparece con su brillo, su sonido y su energía, pero antes de eso la mañana deja estos detalles más silenciosos que muchas veces pasan desapercibidos.
Tal vez por eso decidí fotografiar esta sombra.
Porque en esa breve pausa del camino, la palma y el sol de la mañana crearon una composición sencilla pero hermosa hecha de hierba, luz… y sombra.
