Minnow University // Steemit Contests!
One of the best ways to get involved in Steemit is to take part in contests.
When I first started in June I joined the Steemit Open Mic Contest every week.
I was able to meet other members of the music community, make new friends in my niche, and gain followers.
It also gave me a goal each week and helped boost my creativity.
It wasn't about trying to win the contest, it was about the experience of being part of the Steemit community.

Steemit contests have several benefits:
- Networking - This is a great way to interact with other Steemians and gain followers
- Contest can help you to find motivation and inspiration for content creation
- Other Steemians may notice your submission and upvote or follow you
- You might win SBD or Steem....and that's better than a stick to the eye!

How To Create Your Own Contest
- Make the deadline precise, giving a specific date and time.
You may want to also include a time zone.
You can use this link to set an exact time that everyone can see.
- Be specific about your contest rules.
Common examples of contest rules include:- Upvote the contest post
- Resteem the contest post
- Submissions must be a Steemit link
- Submit Steemit link in comments of main contest post
- Use a specific tag
- What are the parameters for winning?
Be specific about what type of submissions you are looking for.- Is there a word count for writing?
- Does your music contest require a specific genre or performance style?
- If it is an Art contest, what styles are you looking for?
- What media hosting is acceptable? Is Dtube ok or should contestants use YouTube?
Eligibility
Who is or isn't eligible?- Is there a reputation level requirement?
- Is the contest only for minnows with less than 5K SP?
- Are previous winners excluded?
Be specific about your prize
- SBD?
- Steem?
- USD value equivalent?
- Delegation?
- Hugs?
