How are you all? I hope you are happy and everything is clear. July is a tough month for those of us who live in tropical areas. The temperature really eats at us every day. Summer is real, the sun really looks happy, emitting its rays so strongly that it covers every corner of the city.
Summer is the right time for tropical fruit to start harvesting, such as pineapples, mangoes and many other types. But, of all the fruit, I only have one mango tree that stands and grows very thickly in my yard. This tree belong to my grandma and it has been in the yard for 15 years, but the strange thing is, this mango tree has only reached the peak of its huge harvest for only a few years.
Previously, there was a mango tree that had been there since I was born, but then it died and was replaced by a new tree, which is currently in front of my house. The tree that my grandmother fought for, because it never developed and was cared for very well by my grandmother. My grandmother really loved this mango tree, and so do we these days.
Uniquely, it turns out that the taste of the mangoes we have is really delicious. Even though its shape looks very green and very hard, it does not have a soft texture that if bitten is like melting on the tongue. Believe me, the texture of the mango that I have is really very good, not too watery but the taste is really very sweet.
It's so sweet, my wife even only cares about her diabetes because according to her, the fructose in the mangoes we have is really very high. That's why he prefers to eat mangoes when they are still not fully ripe.
I was harvesting mangoes in the afternoon, got a fairly large bucket, around 20 liters. We've been waiting for the fruit to ripen on the tree for a long time, but, it seems like some nosy people took our mangoes a few days ago. So, someone had harvested and I decided to take the fruit that was outside the fence. At least this can prevent the loss of mangoes outside.
My grandmother got the seeds from her friend, she thought this tree would have fruit that was not good in terms of quality. Perhaps, many people will think that the fruit produced from this mango tree is very sour, because the typical mango fruit in the city of Medan is usually sour and does not have the distinctive characteristics of the Indramayu arumanis mango and the Pasuruan golek mango in East Java.
Likewise, after the mangoes are harvested, I will give them to several neighbors near the house. But it looks like this mango should be stored for a few days so that it looks yellower and the color looks like a delicious mango. I know that my neighbors know about the typical mangoes we have and their taste, but I prefer to give them to others and hope they like them.
There is one thing that was done after my grandmother died, namely to give her the remaining hydroponic water at the end of each batch of hydroponic vegetable harvest. Maybe that makes the fruit sweeter?
