Hi there ☃️🍏
How's everyone doing? I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe and warm 🙂
We are experiencing very cold weather during this winter season. In this blog, I will be sharing some photos from our apple orchards which I have captured when we have witnessed the first snowfall of this year.
The snowfall is very important for apple orchards. Snow is white manure for the trees . It also sustains the required level of moisture in the soil during summer and provides essential nutrients . More snowfall means disease free crops.
All apple orchards need winter rest with chill to prepare for next season's fruit . Snow is an insulators for fruit orchards in the winter. It serves as a blanket for trees to protect their roots from freeze during severe cold temperature.
I will tell you a very interesting story about history of apples 🍎. Most commonly found variety of apples 'delicious' is not Indian but it is an American variety from Louisiana , U. S.. Satyananda Stokes , an American planted the first ever apple tree of 'delicious' variety of apple , along the hill tops of Kotgarh which is in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. An American citizen plants a variety of apple that goes on to become staple for most of India.
The weather after snowfall is clear . The blue sky is combined with white clouds and lots of sunshine. The apples in winter also have a serene , pure and stark beauty . It is so mesmerizing to watch snowfall on apple tree.
I hope you have fun while reading my blog and if you are in Kullu or Mandi , I would love to host you and show you around 🙂
Thank you for passing by 💞
Love from Himalayas 🍎
