While walking in our town, I noticed the old building which was under renovation for years, and it looks beautiful again. This is "Casa Real" which was located in the town proper of Lingayen specifically between the Pangasinan Provincial Jail and Lingayen Municipal Hall.
This building was built way back in 1840, which means it's already 182 years old. It used to be the the seat of provincial government, but was transferred to the Provincial Capitol Building in 1918. Back in World War 2, the building had some damages but it has survived. It was even used by the municipal government as offices. However, Typhoon Cosme struck our province, and all the roofs has been blown away. Yes, it didn't survive the typhoon and was abandoned since then. I used to pass in the building, and I hoped it will be renovated or restored because of its cultural significance in our province.
Finally, the municipal government decided to restore and renovate the building, and it will be turned into a museum. I'm unable to see this building for about a year until I saw it was covered while undergoing renovation. That was a year ago when I'm preparing for my wedding.
Just recently, the covering was removed signifying the renovation was already over. It's still close though, probably finishing of the interior is ongoing. I'm already excited to visit the building as a museum.
