This post is for the #wednesdaywalk challenge and the #makemesmile challenge collaboration. This collaboration initially took place once a month, but due to its popularity, (of the #wednesdaywalk) and
(of #makemesmile) decided to make it a weekly thing.
If you want to know more about the rules, visit this week's post by where you will find all the rules at the bottom of his post after you've enjoyed his beautiful photos from his walk.
Last weekend we decided to head out to a beach we haven't been to before.
We decided to go to Rocky Bay in Park Rynie.
Park Rynie is at the bottom of Scottburgh, a town on the South coast of Kwazulu Natal, South Africa.
It is very seldom that we have turned into Scottburgh. We would normally pass Scottburgh, as it is on the main route toward places such as Port Shepstone and Margate.
We have often been to Margate to spend our holiday time there, and lately, we also have relatives who have moved down to that area. So, we have also been traveling down to the Margate area to visit them.
But that means that places like Scottburgh, Park Rynie, Pennington, and Hibberdene are places you pass by, but hardly ever turn off to visit the beaches there.
We would normally leave the main route, the N2, at Hibberdene though, and take the scenic route from there for two reasons:
- As mentioned, it's a scenic route and we enjoy the spectacular scenery and views along the way.
- Besides the views, we also avoid the toll gate.
With Margate being about 150 KM from where we stay, Rocky Bay (in Park Rynie) is about halfway, at about 80 KM from where we stay.
From the N2 main toll route, we took the Park Rynie off-ramp.
We then started looking out for places of interest while driving down in the direction of Pennington.
We then turned in toward the beach at Rocky Bay.
Arriving on the beach at Rocky Bay, one of the first things you notice is the Rocky Bay Caravan Park.
The beach is just below the parking area, and it is obvious where the beach got its name from.
A view of the Rocky Bay Caravan Park while standing on the beach.
A typical scene while walking on the beach...
Taking a closer look.
Rocky Bay, with some currents meeting to the left in the background of the next photo.
More views of the ocean while standing on Rocky Bay Beach.
Looking down south, with the Rocky Bay Caravan Park right on the beach.
This seagull came flying over me and I was just too late to get focused and only got the shot as he was already passing by.
I started taking some shots of the rocks on the beach...
While I was busy getting some nice shots of the rocks, a ski boat appeared on the horizon.
If you look closely, you might spot him on the horizon right in the middle of the next photo...
In the next photo, he becomes more visible. Now you see him...
Now you don't...
Then he gets closer to the shore. The boat had quite a few passengers on.
I got the impression it was people who enjoyed a deep-sea pleasure cruise out on the open waters because just after the boat came out of the water, I saw some of the people returning to the caravan park.
Just before they reached the beach...
Shortly after this photo, they disappeared behind the tidal pool and came ashore.
In all honesty, I didn't expect much of these photos, because as the boat approached the beach, I had to take these shots facing into the sun.
After this, I started having some fun with the surf breaking on the rocks close to me...
And once more...
In my mind, it created a nice picture. The beach, with just the one caravan being visible in the same picture...
And with that photo, we come to the end of today's post!
Thank you for reading my post! I do appreciate it!
