Hello Everyone!
Missing the coffee, Lots of napping, Doing late day chores rather late & Finally some rain!
Alright, I am on the later end of being 'on time' with my writing routine this evening... and yup I am blaming the fact that I am still drinking black tea for the reason that I am not on time! As much as I am being whimsical there, some truth is in it as well... because 'tea' assuredly is no replacement for the 'writing prop' that a steamy cup of coffee is to me... and I tend to put off doing it instead of getting excited about it.
Do not dismay, I will not go 'off the rails' writing about missing my favorite beverage this evening... but whoa its lack is clearly evident to me in regards to my own focusing capabilities go. I will assuredly 'survive' one way or another... and to ease my mind I keep picturing just how good the next cup of the stuff that I have is going to taste... and how much I will relish drinking it!
Anyways, my sleep schedule has stayed pretty much the same... and I am in this weird cycle where I am getting the bulk of my rest in the middle of the day. I have also been following that up with a late day nap for good measure... but given that my foot injury is still problematic... I am not using a lot of energy and sleeping three or four hours at a time is fine.
This evening I slacked until the last minute on my late day chores again... but this time it was because a big storm was darkening the sky all around and looking like it was going to blow in at any moment. When it eventually did blow in hours later, it only rumbled thunder a few times, rained for maybe fifteen minutes... and abruptly stopped altogether.
Since there has been so little rain, I did not 'wait a few minutes' for the rain to wash the roof off... and had all the buckets positioned under the eve beforehand. The only bucket that I waited until after it was raining to put in place... is the one that I collect rainwater in for drinking water... because I want it to be as clean as possible.
Once again, I did not spend any time at the old camp bailing water from the rain barrel there... and given how little it rained I feel a bit less guilty for not having cleaned it out by now. The tarp that replenishes that barrel was also covered in a very thick layer of pollen... and I figured it was fine if more of it got into the barrel since I already have to wash it out anyways.
Even though there was not much rain that small amount that did occur was plenty for all my little black locust saplings... and of course for all the other stuff that I recently planted. Just before sunset, I tried to peak at what all was growing in the pots atop the chicken coop again... but all that I could really see was that one squash (or pumpkin) plant has gotten a heck of a lot taller!
Regardless of whether my foot is troubling me or not... I may have to lug the ladder around so that I can get to the pots atop the coop... and shuffle them around so that the ones that have stuff growing in them are getting as much sun as possible. In the end I may wind up having to build those 'shelves' onto the dog yard fence for the plants to get better sun (and to be able to trellis them) but I have yet to feel capable enough for that task.
Well, this entry is gonna be another 'short and sweet' one. I hope that everyone is doing well. Ciao for now.
