Here’s a John William Waterhouse master copy I finished today.
Greetings and salutations Everyone!
In this post I wanted to share and discuss this tiny (5” x 7”) John William Waterhouse master copy I finished today.
I would say that while this drawing was pretty fun, it was also very tricky in the sense of achieving her likeness. I noted that I had to pay special attention to contours and lost edges as this one was a little more illustrative as compared to the recent Russian academic drawings I’ve been working with.
While constructing the block in, I also made sure to initially mass in the shadow shapes darker than they appeared as reflected light tends to look brighter than it really is early in the drawing. I have to say that working on the hair is the part I enjoyed the most.
Please feel free to let me know what you think? Comments and/or feedback is always welcome!
And if you’re further interested in this drawing or my methods, please feel free to check out my previous posts for example on constructing block ins, and turning form.
Thanks for reading Everyone!
