Welcome back Steemians! I wanted to share with you our super fun date night on Friday the 13th. When I heard that one of our favorite bands Mastodon was going to be in town, I asked my husband if we could go. Initially we were a bit put off because of where the event would be. The Diamond Ballroom sounds fancy but it's not, and that is okay because we aren't fancy folk. However you can still catch a great show for an awesome price and have a lot fun just like we did.
We decided to show up casually late since we weren't very interested in the opening act Russian Circles. You can tell they had a lot of talent but something about them didn't really stick. They had no vocals and it always seemed that the music was going to ramp up into something that just never came. Since it was a beautiful evening we decided to hang out on the patio area till Mastodon performed.
We didn't stand front and center but we felt we had the best spot in the house because we were literally right next to the stage, and while we really couldn't see the drummer we could still enjoy the performance. We could see the list of all the songs they had lined up, so it was exciting to know that we were getting a good balance of our favorite songs from their older album as well as some of their new songs that just came out on the most recent album.
The entire building vibrated and rumbled, it was exhilarating! Since we were not directly in the path of the sound system we left with most of our hearing still in tact, and while they couldn't give out high fives at the end of the show we finally got to see the drummer and wave farewell before they ran to their tour bus to head for San Antonio, TX. It was amazing and if they came back to town I would love to see them again. It was the best Friday the 13th date night a girl could ask for. My husband knows the way to my heart :-)
If you love Mastodon and date nights be sure to leave this blog an up vote. Let us know what your favorite songs are in the comments below and if you have seen them live too. We love being able to share these special times with our steemit family. Until next time take care!
