I’ve only been in Pagadian for a short while, but one of the first things that truly made me pause and smile was the sight of the city’s rotunda circle slowly transforming for Christmas. As someone still adjusting to a new environment—new roads, new routines, new everything—I wasn’t expecting to be greeted so warmly by a burst of festive spirit right at the heart of the city.
The rotunda has become a small Christmas wonderland of its own. What caught my attention immediately were the Santa Claus statues arranged all around the circle. There are so many of them, each one in a different pose, as if they’re telling their own little stories. Some stand tall and cheerful, waving at passing motorists. Others are in more playful positions—one sitting on a giant present, another leaning forward like he’s sharing a funny secret, and one more posed as if he’s about to leap off to deliver gifts. It feels like every angle of the rotunda offers a new surprise.
Even though I’m new here, seeing these bright and joyful decorations gives me a sense of comfort. There’s something heartwarming about finding traces of Christmas in a place I’m only beginning to know. The rotunda, usually just a landmark to pass by, now feels like a cheerful welcome spot, inviting everyone—locals and newcomers alike—to pause and feel the joy of the season.
What I love even more is observing how people react to it. Kids passing by on motorcycles excitedly point to the different Santas. Adults slow down just enough to snap a quick photo or admire the display. There’s a shared joy in the air, a moment of collective anticipation for the holidays.
Pagadian may be a new chapter for me, but seeing how the city brings Christmas to life—starting right at its rotunda—makes me feel more at ease. It’s festive, warm, and surprisingly comforting. And as more lights and decorations appear in the coming days, I’m excited to see how this place continues to celebrate the season.
That's it for today's blog. See you in my next one!
Sending some love and light
