In this Topic we will discuss about the below:
1- What is ethOS?
2- What are the advantages & Disadvantages of ethOS?
3- The actual Hashrate for a serveral AMD GPUs.
4- My Findings and Conclusions.
1- What is ethOS?
Ethos is a Linux operating system that will help you to mine several currencies as solo or dual.
It is a ready made operating system, in other words, it will define all of your rig components at one time as long as they are within the list they identified already by ethOS.
2- What are the advantages & Disadvantages of ethOS?
Advantages:
- Dedicated OS for mining.
- Easy to use even for non Linux user.
- 5 min to update to the latest OS version.
- Steady & stable OS.
Disadvantages:
- In order to use the remote feature and others, you have to be a intermediate Linux user.
- Prior ethOS installing, you need to have an external USB or HDD with not less than 8 GB.
- Overclocking is not possible, unless the overclock done previously by windows.
- The OS configuration is very basic and not user friendly as windows, for example to fix the screen resolution you have to dig down in the OS for at least half an hour to fix it by going through commands you don't know.
3- The actual Hashrate for a several AMD GPUs.
4- My Findings and Conclusion.
In order to overclock any GPU, you must have a running windows OS, as the overclocking will take effect to the GPU directly without going through the GPU flashing in the ethOS
I do recommend using ethOS as it is one step setup rig OS, it is simple to use and if you are looking for a long term mining.
